This
site is dedicated to tilting three wheelers - motorized or
not - and to people who are fascinated by these vehicles or who
simply would like to know more about them.
Three
wheelers have been existing for a very long time. We can even assert
that they were born before motorcars
since the famous "Fardier"
that Nicolas - Joseph Cugnot built in 1770 (sponsored by the
French king Louis XV), was designed in accordance with this principle.
That's perhaps because it crashed against a wall during its first
tests that, since that time, three wheelers have a negative reputation!
…
Although
at the end of the 19th century there were much more of them than
motorcars, their development has very quickly decreased because
of their doubtful dynamic behavior. Nevertheless, they sometimes
came back on the roads, like the Messerschmidt after the second
world war or the famous english Reliant.
Today,
only some specialised companies market three
wheelers. Generally lowered or very wide to improve the dynamic
behavior, they are specially machines dedicated to
sports or leisure use.
Nevertheless,
the current need to have low consumption, able to move in heavy
traffic and easy to park vehicles could give a second chance to
three wheelers or, to be more precise, to a new generation of three
wheels vehicles : the Tilting Three Wheelers (TTW). Very close to
the motorcycle dynamics, these fascinating machines don't have the
defects of the conventional three wheelers.
One
can reasonably assert that they succeed in combining the advantages
of a motorcar (comfort and
safety) to those of a two wheels vehicle
(handiness, ability to move in a heavy traffic and driving pleasure).
There
are some of us throughout the world to be passionately fond of this
concept. The US web site made by Mitch
Casto (Hi Mitch !) will allow you to discover the extraordinary
universe of the TTW. Some big companies also begin to be interested
in this phenomenon. These latest years, Daimler
Chrysler, Aprilia, Italjet and Renault
showed concepts of vehicles based on this principle. Since the
beginning of the year 2002, a small Dutch company sells a fabulous
machine: the Carver. In 2006,
the Clever
and the Piaggio
Mp3 have also been introduced to the medias. This new approach
also applies to the not-motorized machines and projects of tilting
three wheels bikes are regularly shown.
For
my part, I have been working for about two decades on this subject.
It lead me to develop a certain number of motorized prototypes (Pulsar
project, Torga and RC
Three Wheeler) and muscular propulsion prototypes (Sweeler
project).
It
is the synthesis of this adventure which I suggest you to discover
through the pages of this site.
My only wish is to pass on you the same passion as the one that
animates all those who, like me, have
built, driven or even simply seen one of these machines. And
if my objective is reached, then come in the "Espace
Club". I would like to make you live the adventure of the project
and share all the events with you as well as those lived by other
inventors, and many other things... and I need your opinion and
your suggestions, so that this Club
is really yours.
For
a moment, the rest of the visit is in french....
